How to Choose and Maintain Your Reading Glasses?
Choosing Your Diopter
Reading glasses are designed to correct presbyopia, the difficulty seeing up close that typically appears after age 40. Choosing the correct strength (diopter) is essential. If you're unsure, consult a vision care professional (ophthalmologist, optician) who can determine the most suitable power for your needs.
Maintenance Tips
- Cleaning: To clean your lenses, use a soft microfiber cloth (like the one provided or a suitable cloth). If necessary, you can use a specific lens cleaning spray. Avoid abrasive fabrics or paper towels, which can scratch the lenses.
- Handling: Always put on and take off your glasses using both hands to avoid deforming the frame.
- Storage: When not wearing them, always store your glasses in their felt case to protect them from bumps, dust, and scratches.
- Heat Warning: Never leave your glasses on a car dashboard in direct sunlight or near an intense heat source, as this could deform the frame.
Are these glasses suitable for distance vision?
No. These are reading magnifiers, designed specifically for near vision (reading, sewing, DIY...). They do not correct distance vision defects like myopia. Using them to look into the distance would make your vision blurry.
What do "flexible temples" mean?
The temples are equipped with a spring mechanism at the hinges. This allows them to spread slightly outwards without breaking, offering greater flexibility, better adaptation to the width of your head, and increased durability.
Can the tortoiseshell pattern vary from one pair to another?
Yes, and that's what makes the charm of the tortoiseshell pattern. Slight variations in the arrangement and shade of the spots may exist from one frame to another, making each pair almost unique.
How do I know my diopter?
Ideally, you should consult an eye care professional. However, a simple test is to try reading standard text at a distance of 12-16 inches (30-40 cm). Start with a low diopter (+1.00) and gradually increase until you find the correction with which reading is clearest and most comfortable, without strain.
